Add arrows, boxes and text to a screenshot
Press Print Screen, select the area and point at what matters. The tools appear right under your selection, every one has a single-letter shortcut, and the result goes to your clipboard with one key.
Press Print Screen. The screen freezes.

Blur that cannot be undone
Built from the pixels around the box, so there is nothing to recover.
Numbered callouts with comments
A click drops a number. The comment stays on the picture or goes as text.

Quiet updates, private by design
Updates install while you are away. Screenshots never leave your computer.
How to do it
Select the area
Press Print Screen (⇧⌘2 on a Mac) and drag over the part of the screen you need.
Pick a tool
A for an arrow, R for a box, M for the marker, P for the pencil, T for text.
Draw
Hold Shift to snap an arrow to 45° or make a perfect square. Change the width with [ and ] or the mouse wheel.
Copy and paste
Press Enter or Ctrl+C, then paste into the chat, the email or the task with Ctrl+V.
The tools
WellSnap keeps the toolbar short on purpose. Each tool does one thing well, so a screenshot is marked up before you would have found the right menu in a big editor.
- Arrow: a solid head that stays readable on any background, Shift snaps the angle.
- Rectangle: an outline around a button, a field or an error message.
- Marker: a straight see-through highlighter stroke over a line of text.
- Pencil: a smoothed freehand line for circling or underlining.
- Text: a label with an optional background plate, so it stays legible on busy screenshots.
Colors and widths that stay out of the way
Eight colors and three widths cover almost every case. Each tool remembers its own choice: arrows stay red and the marker stays yellow until you change them, and the next screenshot starts the same way.
Made a mistake? Ctrl+Z undoes up to 200 steps. The Select tool (V) moves or deletes any shape after it is drawn, and resizes arrows and boxes by their handles.
Captions on arrows and boxes
Turn on Caption after drawing (Shift+T), and every arrow or box gets a numbered caption field the moment you finish it. Handy when one picture has to explain several things. Captions are off by default, and you can add one later by double-clicking a shape.
Questions and answers
Can I edit an arrow after drawing it?
Yes. Switch to Select (V), click the arrow and drag its ends, or press Delete to remove it. Color and width changes apply to the selected shape.
Is there a crop tool?
The selection is the crop: drag its handles or use Alt with the arrow keys to resize it by a pixel, before or after you draw.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. Capturing and drawing happen on your computer. WellSnap only goes online to check for updates and, if you allow it, to send crash reports and anonymous statistics.
