Number the steps right on the screenshot

Numbered callouts with comments
A click drops a number. The comment stays on the picture or goes as text.

How to do it
Press N
The Callout tool is active.
Click or drag
A click places a numbered badge. Drag away from the badge to draw a pointer to the exact spot.
Type the comment
A field opens next to the badge. Enter saves it, and the next click gets the next number.
Choose where the text goes
On the image as bubbles, or separately, so only the numbers stay on the picture (L switches).
Numbers that keep themselves in order
Delete callout 2 and callout 3 becomes 2. There are never gaps or duplicates, even after undo. One screenshot can hold up to 99 callouts.
Text on the image, or text on its own
Bubbles on the image are perfect for a quick reply. For a bug report, a task or an AI chat, separate text is often better: the picture stays clean and the comments arrive as real text that can be read, searched and copied.
With text set to separate, Copy puts the picture and the comments on the clipboard together, and paste with text (Win+Alt+V) sends both into the open chat as one message.
Several screenshots, one numbering
In a set, every screenshot gets a letter and its callouts carry it: A1, A2, B1, C1. A reply like "B1 is wrong" leaves no doubt which picture it means.
Questions and answers
Can I change the callout color?
Callouts use the WellSnap orange by default, and the palette has the other colors too.
Can I move a callout after placing it?
Yes. Drag the badge with the Callout or Select tool. Double-click it to edit the comment.
What if a callout ends up outside the selection?
It is not included, and WellSnap tells you how many callouts were left out, so a comment never goes missing silently.
