A Greenshot alternative for chats and teams

Greenshot is a solid editor with a long history. WellSnap starts where its workflow ends: sending several marked-up screenshots to a chat, with the comments, in a single paste.

Windows, 64-bitmacOS 14 Sonoma or later

  1. Press Print Screen. The screen freezes.

Open menus and tooltips stay put. Drag over the part you need.

  2. Arrows, boxes, a marker and text

One key per tool. Shift snaps arrows to 45°.

  3. Blur that cannot be undone

Built from the pixels around the box, so there is nothing to recover.

  4. Numbered callouts with comments

A click drops a number. The comment stays on the picture or goes as text.

  5. One more, and one more

Each screenshot in a set gets a letter, its callouts become A1, A2, B1.

  6. The whole set goes into a chat at once

Your comments and the pictures arrive as one message.

  7. Or as one picture

For email and tickets: all screenshots on one sheet, comments under each.

  8. Print Screen opens Snipping Tool? One click fixes it

WellSnap takes the key over, and you can give it back at any time.

  9. Quiet updates, private by design

Updates install while you are away. Screenshots never leave your computer.

Not listed means the feature is not mentioned in the vendor's own documentation or store page. Compared in October 2026; tell us on GitHub if something changed.

Free on the Mac too

WellSnap is free on both systems, with the same tools and shortcuts on macOS 14 and later.

Sets and albums

Collect screenshots A, B, C and paste them into Telegram, WhatsApp or Discord in one go. Callouts become A1, B1, so replies point at the right picture.

A blur you can trust

The mosaic never reads the pixels it hides, so there is nothing to recover from the copied image.

Print Screen sorted

WellSnap spots when Windows or another tool holds the key and takes it over in one click.

When Greenshot is the better choice

Greenshot can capture a whole window, export straight to Jira, Confluence, Office or Dropbox through plugins, and has more shapes such as ellipses. If those exports are part of your routine, Greenshot fits it better.

Switching takes a minute

  • Turn off Print Screen in Greenshot's preferences, or let WellSnap show you which app holds the key.
  • Step labels become callouts (N), with comments on the image or as separate text.
  • Obfuscate becomes Blur (B), with a solid fill for passwords.
