Windows
- Windows, 64-bit (x64)
- Installs for your user only, no administrator rights needed
- A small installer of about 3.5 MB. If Windows lacks Microsoft Edge WebView2, the installer fetches it
If Windows SmartScreen warns you
The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows may say it protected your PC from an unrecognized app. Click More info, then Run anyway. The source code is public, and every release is built from it on GitHub.
macOS
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later
- Allow Screen Recording when macOS asks: WellSnap needs it to see the screen
- Paste with text also needs Accessibility, so it can press ⌘V for you
After installing
- WellSnap opens a short welcome with two or three settings.
- Press Print Screen, or ⇧⌘2 on a Mac, to take your first screenshot.
- WellSnap then waits in the notification area, or in the menu bar on a Mac, and starts with the system.
Updates
WellSnap asks GitHub for a new version shortly after it starts and then every 12 hours. A new version waits a day or two, then installs while you are away from the computer. You can install it right away from About, or turn automatic updates off there.
Uninstalling
On Windows, open Settings, Apps, find WellSnap and choose Uninstall. If WellSnap took over Print Screen, the uninstaller gives the key back to Windows.
